I was setting up for our property fair when i met this Malay gentleman. He is one of our customer’s contractor. To me he is one of the most special people i met in my life. Why ? He has a cleft lips and also he has only one palm. He do more than what we normally do. What makes him so special ? Without a palm, and with ease he carried large advertising boards, climb the ladder, and install what was needed. He did it just like anyone else, one thing for sure he sure did it better than me. I do not see any incapability when he carried out his job. His lips conditions does not allow him to speak well but i can see that he was doing his best to communicate with his colleagues.

I have the most respect for such person, someone who is so determine, someone who has the emotional strength to overcome all his disability but i truly believe that he does not see himself as a disabled person. He could have opt for something easier or just beg, he chose to work just like you and me. Kudos.

After meeting him, i guess i am one of the luckiest person even though i did not have the best childhood, i do not drive a BMW, i don’t own an Armani suit or anything fancy. I am grateful of what i have. I will always be.

We must feel lucky that we can wake up to a steady job (even though we might hate the job) compared to someone who is bedridden – his bed is his world. We must be thankful that we have laundries and dishes to do, many  has got no cloth covering their body or can’t even have a meal a day.

There are so many reasons for us to feel lucky but often we choose to not to see it that way, instead chasing something we do not have and letting go what we have on hand.

This man in the video is surely someone all should respect. Watch it again if you have watched it because I am sure how must have forgotten how lucky you are. Enjoy.

Remember, it’s easy to complain and compare but there any many people who wish they are like us. Ask yourself, have you done anything nice today? Go do it because it is so worth it!

Here are some of them :

Blasting ring tones – Set your ring tones to level 5 or more and choose some high pitch annoying ring tones. Alternatively you can select and play thru your ringtones selection during office hours.

‘Hello’ loudly – Say HELLO as if you are shouting at your 80 years old grandmother across a busy street.
Boss ar boss – When your boss walk in, say – Boss ar Boss, keep on calling Boss ar Boss every time you need to call your boss. In no time, you will be labeled Ass Licker or Shoe Polisher.

Wet the toilet – Proof to your colleagues how big was your ‘business’ in the toilet. Wet the entire toilet floor with water hose after your answer to nature’s call. They will have to tip toe and get their socks wet every time they go to the toilet. Leave some chocolate residues if possible.

Don’t refill the water – Always attempt to be the last one filling up your mug or bottle and emptying the water tank. Be the first one to refill whenever your colleague replace the water tank. Show them you are here to take and not give.
Removing your shoes – Attempt to trip your  colleagues by removing your shoes right in the middle of doorway. It will be funny if they fall.

Wrong paper size – Deliberately set the wrong paper size and print it and the printer will just go teeeeeet. In the mean time, go take a dump in the toilet.

Speak with slang and bad grammar – Hies, my names iss Makesmesucks and I am the callings froms Kedais Runcits Goods. Mays I orders 6 packets of Cintan mees from yours warehouse thats days one.Whens you sends comes the Cintan mees?  Thanks yous verys muchs and byes.

Hyena ‘hihihi’ laughs – A typical scenario in my office – Hey you know ar…hihihi.. i saw 3 tortoises ar…hihihihi..trying to hump a rabbit just now..hihihihihi…it was like the hor… like the hihihihihi…then hor the rabbit hor hihihihi… When this happens i just feel like slapping that fella silly. No wonder communication is so bad. In the scale of lameness, this sort of people will 9/10.  Seriously what is so funny? It is only tortoise trying to hump a rabbit.

Well… what i mention above managed to annoy me. If you have some of those habits, please warn me so that i can stay away from you.

Be considerate to your colleagues.

Here is the Sick(six) List…

1. Hypocrisy - Generally i just cant stand hypocrisy anywhere. I do really appreciate people who are genuine and sincere. I do not need people who smile and say “Ok ok..sure can” but end up with something different.

Hypocrisy can be displayed in different manner, one that i see everyday – colleague acting all damn busy with messy tables accompanied with panting facial expression and heavy breathing like a asthma patient in need of inhaler after being chased by 16 freaking dogs infected by rabies.Well,this only happens when the boss walks into the office.

2. Double Standards - I know i know.. the world is never fair, but it has to be fair to a certain extend. If we are all one company, shouldn’t we all work under the same set of rules? Well some get exceptions, will most remain the same. Some seem to have unlimited leaves, some can come in at 12noon leave at 2pm, often miss work without excuses.

3. Acting Smart - Yaaa yaaa i know you are old, i know you have gone through so much in life. I know you think highly of yourself but the rest just don’t think like you.

Trying to be smart (when you are not) will make you a big fool, a very big fool. Be smart, but never act smart. It is obvious when you are just acting smart.

4. Inconsistency – To be a respected figure, you must be consistent with your words and actions. You cant expect to be respected by others when your words are just words. Words are like commitments, once said we take it for real. Don’t come changing words to suit your selfishness.

5. Pretending to be Forgetful - Oh sorry sorry..i forgot..oh sorry..really sorry. Sounds familiar? Annoy the hell out of me when one act like that. Either you are being irresponsible or trying to be very funny at work. No one is too busy or will ever neglect something if that bloody something is important.

6. I Don’t Know (go dig your nose then) - Why don’t you tell yourself that you are just not fit for the job? Damn, it is so shitted whenever someone tells me that he/she does not know something. There are lots of things that i don’t know as well, but i tell myself i have to know them because it is my responsibility. I have the responsibility to go find out, that is what we are paid for. Some people will just use the excuse – I DON’T KNOW to avoid anything given to them. They can run away from it but that just proves that he/she is not fit for the job.

So what if 2010 is a new year.

It’s like a brand new year with same old shit,huh.

I will be hoping for the best tho. Breakaway. Tell you in 2011.

60 Earth Hour needs no introduction.So now what’s the hype?

I will lead my normal life this 28th March, i will turn on and off the lights as usual, if needed i will turn on more lights. I have my reasons.

I must say that this project is a great head start in educating people on how important for us to conserve all resources but what is more important is the 8759 hours before and after 60 Earth Hours.

What impact does it bring by saving 1 hour of electricity? Big impact but surely its not good or big enough. Never will !

Before you get so excited(unnecessarily) with 60 Earth Hours, ask yourself..

1. How often do you leave your mobile charger on even after you have to removed your mobile phone?
2. How often you leave for your teh tarik session with your room lights / fan/ air-con on?
3. When was the last time you turn off your office lights (if you are able to do so) when you leave for lunch / meetings?
4.How many hours do you think you left your TV on for the mini creatures (insect) or worst stil no one in your hall to watch per week?
5. When was the last time you left your toilet light on after doing what you need to do in there?

The list of questions can go on, i am guilty of some, but i know i m doing all i can everyday to conserve electricity, water or anything that is shared by you and me.

I just hope that everyone in Facebook who invited me to join this campaign, everyone damn politician, every corporate citizens, every NGO, every government agencies, everyone and everybody continues to champion this cause even after 9.30pm tomorrow else it is just pure bullshit. It’s a continuous effort, just like you don’t live in this world for an hour.

60 Earth Hours is meaningless if we stop there. Remember it’s not a celebration, it’s not a party, it’s not a commercial or money making effort, it’s a beginning of something infinity. 60 Earth Hours is a journey not a destination.

60 Earth Hours started long ago in me and will last as long as i live, hope the same goes to you.

One of it’s best tool would be the Google Language Tool which i do use it once in a blue moon.

One  mistake that Google failed to notice that there are no language in this world called CHINESE, perhaps it should be called MANDARIN instead.
