Getting myself & company organised
Tuesday, 24 June 2008
For the past 3 years
I have been in the event business for 3 years and i must admit that i was lucky to have picked many things along the years, meeting people, presentation skills, PR, problem solving skills, negotiation skills, planning and coordination but one thing that i guess i am lacking is having proper self organisation in terms of my work and life.
It has been a very spontaneous 3 years for me, things come and go just like that. I took all very spontaneously, and dealt with them quick when it is necessary.I am not sure if that is the nature of my job that i do not have time to get myself organised in terms of work but as for now, i just think that it was just an excuse for me.
I have tried every now and then to get myself more organised, keeping notes in my organiser, PDA and laptop but it somehow fell short.
Today and tomorrow
I have told myself that i need to do something about this and somehow i discover two things that i really love at the moment – my Moleskines and OneNote.

My two Moleskine
Moleskines are pure classic, too lovely to write.OneNote is just one hell of an application that allows me to basically do anything from assigning tasks to team members to recording meeting minutes and the wonder is it, its all store in ONE place. Wonderful!
So now that i have found both of them, the real challenge is to make it a habit to use them. This is something that i have not much of confidence in myself but i am proud that i am doing good so far.
Company and the organisation
System has been introduced but the only thing that lasted till today is shitstem. Countless discussions and proposal has been tabled out but somehow it does not materialise or most, it will last merely 2 weeks. Anything more than 2 weeks is a bonus.
Sometimes i do asked myself, is it a system fault or the employees / employer’s attitude?
OneNote was introduced to them unofficially last week, one seem pretty excited and all hyped up to use this application but sadly the excitement in him only lasted 30 minutes or so. To me this is just another common sight here in the office, most of the times, the initiator is the main culprit for such failures. You can just go talk on how we gonna improve this company’s work system bla bla bla.. we are going to do this and that, we will achieve this and that, we will we will we will and keep on we will but the ULTIMATE ‘we will’ will end like this – WE WILL NEVER…get what we want because we did not even start correctly. Like i said, sometimes its just like NATO.
Once and for all
With all the shitstem that we have, i am going to call an introductory meeting on OneNote and hell with it if it does not take off. I couldnt care less anymore if some parties are just more interested in talking then getting things done.
All i know, i am planning to get more organised and i just want to work more effectively and efficiently, maybe not for the company but for my own benefit.
Good luck
