Malaysian Artistes for Unity — My Say

I love you guys at MAFU

I must first say that it is a great effort from everyone who was involved in this project directly. Anytime, anywhere I will seriously raise both my hands and bow for effort all you guys have thrown in. It must have been hard work and its great it all went well and paying off. You have my FULL RESPECT

But my questions to the songwriter – Pete Teo & the team:

In relation to the song

  1. In which part of the lyrics did mention anything about anti racism (this is what the song suppose to be), or perhaps the intrinsic meaning of the lyrics are way too ‘deep’ to be understood by someone like me ?
  2. I know la u strong, can carry some heavy guy –But I’m strong. You ain’t heavy? What does this means (again) ? – Are you trying to tell Malaysians Harith and Adflin that they are fat and heavy? We all know that..
  3. Push back sister , won’t you push back…push it push it some more…a la la la long… a la la la long… ? This line sounds like a husband motivating his wife during labour..
  4. One love undivided? What love? Divide what? What are you trying to say?
  5. Stony ground? Tar road ada la..What is it all about stony ground?
  6. Hand in hand we will march like blood brothers,I speak for my people hope we will find peace forever – This sound like some war or army theme? Are we Malaysians going into a battle? We are enjoying peace now dear song writer, we need not fight for our peace now, all we need to do is to maintain it.

In relation to the website

  1. Why choose .info instead of .org ? Both are correct in fact. But by choosing .info its more towards providing information to the public on anti-racism in Malaysia but if .org its more towards an organisation or group coming together against anti-racism which I believe this is what MAFU intends to achieve. MAFU’s website is not about publishing some info or stats on racism status in Malaysia or anything close to that, but purely on promoting anti-racism which is very minimal in Malaysia. I am very proud of this fact !
  2. guava-229x300.jpgWhy have guava, tomatoes, and star fruit? It cant be just because of Pete Teo juggling tomatoes ! What does this fruit has got to do with races or racism? Why can’t we have some pictures of various races in here showcasing the sprit of Muhibbah? To me that’s way better. If you insist of using fruits, why don’t we use durian, rambutan, manggis and langsat, atleast it will be more authentic and Malaysiana.
  3. Why have your lyrics in PDF format? Don’t you think it’s harder for us blogger to spread the lyrics using this format? Can’t it be some basic text where we can just copy + paste? I am sure we can obtain the lyrics elsewhere, but why PDF format in the official site? Try Googling it, results are actually discouraging . <results>
  4. I do not see a consistency in terms of the web design and banner for download. Can we be uniformed? If the site is using fruits to represents Malaysians, then i think the banner should include some fruits. Or if the team decides to use the home and ‘fan’ graphic then how come we do not use our Jalur Gemilang colour? So now what, fruit or home icon for this campaign? Confusing!
  5. I know, i know, i know…all this is done within a short time, voluntarily etc etc, but if the team could spend some time brainstorming on the direction of this web, it will be much better and uniformed. Let’s not be like our Ministry of Education, changing and keep on changing. One day, the MOE decides to teach Science and Math in English, next thing they this it’a a better idea to teach in BM. C’mon, do it right the first time !

I am not trying to criticise but somehow I do really think that this song can be presented in a much more meaningful way in terms of lyrics. Personally i just think that the lyrics is a ‘NO GO’ at all and doesn’t jive well with the message of this project, its to ‘deep’ to be understood by most, its just so not right….melody is still acceptable, filming I have no complain.

Again and I sincerely would like give everyone involved in this project a big bow…its seriously a marvellous effort and idea to come out with but like any other thing in life, there are always room for improvements. As a Malaysian, I am just trying to be constructive and I know this MAFU project will kick off many more greater projects for the RAKYAT. WELL DONE !

All in all these are only my POV, take it, hate it or love it is within you. I am just trying to be constructive (some will see me being a distructive person)

P/S: Maybe i am too shallow to understand this song..maybe, maybe no.Apologize if i have offended anyone. No guava were eaten (just don’t eat the damn guava.

I am a Malaysian and I LOVE all (most) Malaysians.

Live the Malaysia Boleh sprit !! Boleh apa? Apa pun boleh la !!! Macam Astro,macam-macam ada tapi…..

What a moaning twat you are. Ppl do all the hard work and all you is sit at home and give some half-assed stupid patronising bullshit about not understanding the lyrics that even school kids can understand. You should be ashamed of yourself. Pathetic.

Support!! I don’t see a clear connection in the lyrics with the promotion of unity and anti racism. Maybe I’m just lame and dumb. Coz honestly ppl, I’m not getting it either.

Apalancho! Great comments! But somehow I thk the song didn’t really rock it. Only the part when there were 4 different languages in rapping. Previous productions were much much better….
Maybe coz this was a non-profit effort? Is that why the song was so crappy? But kudos to the artistes for coming together and at least try to do something. Wait.. did Pak Lah have a hand in this?

JIH, thank you for taking your time to comment. I respect your idea, but in order for me to respect your opinion, best if you can improve on your manners. Even a kid knows how to behave and speak, i expect much more from an ‘educated adult’ like you. Thank you so much for increasing my blog hits. Appreciate that
